Enjoy a Night Out of Your Ski Chalet in La Tania   by Danielle Hodges

La Tania is a small village in the French Alps, located near the Les Trois Vallees and the resorts of Meribel and Courchevel. It sits at 1400 metres above sea level and retains its original village charm that was wrought when it was founded as a location for the 1992 Albertville Olympics. The village centre itself is small and traffic free, which means that you can walk just about anywhere from your ski chalet. La Tania boasts all the traditional village shops such as a post office, bakery, tourist office, newsagent, and eight bars/restaurants where you can take advantage of the nightlife of the ski resort village.

Pub le Ski Lodge

The hub of the social life of the small village is never far from your ski chalet. La Tania offers up Pub le Ski Lodge, which is run by a friendly English and Welsh duo. In addition to serving a variety of pub-quality foods, Pub le Ski Lodge is the place to party in La Tania. They serve several draft and bottled beers, wines, mixed drinks, and the ‘famous ski lodge cocktail’. With themed nights, live bands, and lively and good-value happy hours, it stays rocking until its 2 a.m. closing time, and is guaranteed to be the place to go for a good night.

Chrome Bar

A relative newcomer to the scene in La Tania is Chrome Bar, built as a replacement for the bar area of the le Farçon, which was extended as a restaurant and the bar area closed to non-diners. Its loungers outside make it an attractive place to chill out and get away from your ski chalet. La Tania workers, skiers, and locals alike pop in here to have a quiet mid-week drink or hear the occasional live band. When the atmosphere gets going, especially towards the weekends, the cosy feeling gives this bar a friendly vibe.

La Taiga

Often called ‘the tiger’, La Taiga is the place for the upmarket and more mature crowd to go for a night out of their ski chalet. La Tania’s ‘Troika’ beginner’s piste is near where you will find La Taiga bar and restaurant. The bar area mixes house cocktails like the Monk’s Promise and the Lychee Caipiroska, along with classic regional wines and beers that you can sit and enjoy around the grand leather sofas. They also have a Scandinavian poele fire to warm up next to after a long day on the slopes. If you find yourself feeling a bit peckish, their restaurant upstairs serves up traditional Savoyarde cuisine with a variety of specials to tickle your taste buds.
